Humidity and air quality control for Home Assistant

A humidity reading tells you part of the story. Humidity Intelligence brings room conditions, configured air-quality measurements and device control together in Home Assistant, with the reasoning visible.

Start with the conditions you can measure

HI uses the sensors and outputs you configure. Room temperature and humidity provide context for humidity targets and moisture risk; supported air-quality sensors add evidence about the conditions you choose to monitor. A single pollutant reading does not describe every aspect of indoor air quality.

For example, a shower can raise humidity while cooking changes particulate readings elsewhere. HI evaluates the available evidence against your settings and resolves the ventilation response through a defined priority order. The dashboard shows the selected response and its reason.

Use the configuration walkthrough to map real sensors and devices to the appropriate rooms and levels. A single-level home needs no dummy second level.

Targets that follow your selected profile

Humidity is assessed against the active seasonal or custom profile. Auto follows the seasons; you can also select a season explicitly or set custom targets. This gives the control engine a consistent reference for the current configuration.

Air-quality conditions use their configured thresholds and supported units. Keep those settings aligned with the actual sensor type: unavailable readings, invalid units and missing mappings must remain visible as gaps in evidence.

One ventilation decision, with an explanation

Each evaluation selects one ventilation lane. CO emergency has the highest priority, followed by humidity and moisture-risk lanes before routine zone and air-quality demand. Configured gates and manual-control state also matter. Humidification follows its own demand independently of ventilation lane selection.

When a device does not respond as expected, begin with the reason panel: inspect the selected lane, source context and gate state. Then check the device and its mapping. The control-decisions guide explains that sequence in detail.

Check the response as well as the reading

Optional output monitoring reports configured device states and gaps in monitoring. A device reported as On in Home Assistant is not proof of physical airflow or moisture production. Confirm the actual device response when investigating a problem.

Current alerts and device status tell you what is happening now. Stability Score adds a longer view of target adherence, room balance and recovery. Both are useful, and they answer different questions.

Start with installation through HACS, then follow the manual for configuration. For CO-related behaviour and its limits, read Air Quality and CO Safety; HI complements independent CO safety precautions and detectors.
